Reporting about this is a double edged sword. On one hand it feels like it’s only right that more people know about this project in order to give it (and its creator) the attention it deserves, but on the other it could (and likely will) backfire. Calling attention to this fan project only alerts Konami that much faster.
The creator, Airam Hernandez, probably knows this but has still posted a trailer on YouTube and set up a page on Facebook, so I guess we should all bask in the wonder he’s created for now and forget about the real world.
Here it is, a glimpse of what Metal Gear Solid would be in Unreal Engine 4.
Pretty sure I’m not the only one experiencing nostalgia bombs one after the other. Metal Gear Solid was the one that started it all and to see it with a modern spin, well…it’s certainly something special. The closest we ever got to this was in Metal Gear Solid 4 (I know its been a while but I’m not spoiling it for anyone who doesn’t know) but even that’s still just not the same.
Hats off to the Hernandez for this. For him, what started out as a small project has become a huge endeavor of remaking the entire game after popular demand. He does mention having a helper, Dan Meadowcroft, who in addition to being in charge of the music, is dealing with Konami.
We can only hope that they manage to convince Konami to let this happen.
