The Pokemon Company International recently released an advertisement to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the long-running franchise. Accompanying the advertisement is a press release detailing the “yearlong campaign” they plan to engage in for the series. The company hopes that the campaign will explore “ambition, drive, and training” and appeal to “millions of fans around the world.”
Los Angeles based production company Omelet created the ad, which will be shown in a thirty-second cut during Super Bowl 50 on February 7. However, you can see more than a minute’s worth of Pokemon goodness below:
If you head to Pokemon.com/20, there is information surrounding the franchise’s celebration – a celebration that will include retail events, special promotions, and the upcoming Pokemon Photo Booth app.
You can also use the #Pokemon20 to discuss your favorite Pokemon moments on Twitter and Instagram in order to receive the opportunity to win a special prize.
This last official Pokemon celebration was the 10th Anniversary, which saw the special event “Journey Across America” held in a variety of locations throughout the U.S. The event allowed fans to see a preview of the “Lucario and the Mystery of Mew” film, as well as download special Pokemon for the Game Boy Advance titles in the series.
We look forward to seeing The Pokemon Company advertise during the Super Bowl, even in spite of the insanely high ad prices. For a franchise that appeals to many of us, reaching such a milestone is incredible — especially in the video game industry.
