The good folks over at Gamespot got the chance to preview the The Witcher 3. Kevin and Andy were rather impressed with what they saw in the demo that they were shown. The Witcher 3 takes place in an open world, whereas the previous two entries in the series were not.
The world has been designed to invite players to not just follow the quest, but to go out exploring in this massive world. Another added mechanic is the ability to sail across the water. Andy was able to see into the water and saw a whale tail cresting. They were not sure to the extent of what sort of interaction we would have with the water.
They highlighted a feature called the witcher sense, which is similar to Batman’s detective mode in the Arkham games. They weren’t able to get into the crafting parts of the game, but it does appear to be a game with a huge amount of depth to it. I know that I will be keeping my eye on a release date and when pre-orders become available. Here is the video from Gamespot. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is targeting a 2014 release date on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
