When I preorder a game, it is usually because there is a pretty good preorder bonus attached to that game (I preordered Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn to get early access) or it is a limited edition.
Well, if what CD Projekt Red studio head Marcin Iwinski said is true, I might be preordering The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
The preorder might be worth it
If you preorder The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt from CD Projekt Red’s virtual storefront on GOG, the bonus might be worth it. During a Twitch stream, Iwinski stated:
“There was a question here…about how good the Witcher 3 preorder [bonuses] will be on GOG; it will be f***ing amazing, guys.”
Unfortunately, Iwinski would not say anymore about the preorder bonuses.
Gamespot followed up with Iwinski trying to get more information on The Witcher 3 preorder bonus, but were not able to get any more out of him. All he said was “It will be excellent and that’s all I can say right now.”
Can’t preorder just yet though…
The Witcher 3 is not yet available for preorder through GOG. As CD Projekt Red stands against DRM, PC gamers who purchase the game through GOG can consider that another bonus.
The Witcher 3 will also be coming out for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One. Iwinski has stated that releasing the game on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 while keeping its spirit intact would be impossible.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was one of the my most anticipated games of this year before it CD Projekt Red delayed it.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt originally had a release window of this fall. However, CD Projekt Red recently delayed the game until February of 2015.
While it disappointed me that the game got delayed, I am hoping that this extra time will help CD Projekt Red bring the best out of the game. As I am planning to get this game for the PlayStation 4, I hope these “f***ing amazing” preorder bonuses will carry over to the consoles. Like I mentioned before, I preorder a game for the preorder bonus (Destiny beta), or if it is a limited edition that I feel I need. Maybe CD Projekt Red will give me both reasons to preorder The Witcher 3.
