Not to fear Playstation enthusiasts, PopCap Games has announced that the zombies are indeed heading your way shortly. Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare will be arriving for the Playstation 3 and Playstation 4 on August 19 in North America, August 21 in Europe and August 22 in the UK. Shooters are never going to be the same.
Originally released only for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One, PvZGW is a Battlefield inspired take on PopCap’s incredibly popular Plants vs Zombies tower defense game. It places you on either the plants team or the zombies in a mix of standard online shooter type modes. These modes range from your typical deathmatch to Garden Warfare‘s co-operative mode Garden Ops.
It has been confirmed that the Playstation 4 version will be running at a native 1080p with full support for Remote Play using the Vita. Also, for those who want to command the battle from above the PS App will be utilized to function as the second screen support for the Boss Mode in multiplayer.
Is that all?
Included with the release of Garden Warfare for the Playstation 3 and Playstation 4, are the two DLC packs that have been released so far. These packs are Zomboss Down and the Garden Variety Pack both of which were released as free DLC add ons.
Zomboss Down– As well as the western theme, this DLC added a new map called Cactus Canyon where the zombies must seek and destroy a secret plant facility located on a golf course. It also gives us eight new unlockable characters including the Armored Chomper and the Wrestling Star Zombie. Three new consumable items were added to plant’s arsenal: the Ice Peashooter, Fire Peashooter and the Bamboo Shot. There is also hundreds of new customization options as well as a level cap increase from 20 to 30.
Garden Variety– Along with the release of another extra map, called Chomp Town, PopCap added a new game mode called Gnome Bomb. In this mode, the two teams are tasked with finding a random bomb somewhere on the map that has been strapped to a garden gnome. Then the teams must use the bomb to destroy three separate bases before the other team can diffuse the bomb. There were also additional player abilities that were added as well as around 100 new customizations. To round out the arsenal of consumables were the addition of the Doom Shroom for the plants and pirate themed zombies for the, well, zombies.
But wait, there’s more
Pre orders for the Playstation versions of Garden Warfare have already begun and will come with two in game card packs just like the Xbox releases. However, as an added bonus to the SONY fans, you will also receive character-themed customization items that include Hat Packs based on Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper, and Fat Princess. PopCap has also stated that they will be showcasing the Playstation Garden Warfares at this year’s E3 in just a few weeks.
