Battlefield 4 will be introducing a Community Test Environment (CTE) so that fans can be a part of the development process. This program will change and improve current content and experiment on new material that may not be released to the public.
One of the first things this program is supposed to do is alter the netcode which will improve synchronization between client and server. The CTE will also take a look at tickrate, which is how frequently your game client is updated by the server you are playing.
A program like this will hopefully catch bugs faster so DICE can make patches to fix them. Battlefield 4 still has two more expansions slated to come out in the summer of 2014. Let’s see if having the CTE will make a noticeable mark on future gameplay.
So far the Community Test Environment will be available for PC users who are Battlefield 4 Premium members.
