One of the most anticipated titles coming out this year is Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall. Titanfall is a first-person shooter that takes single-player story and combines it with multiplayer gameplay. The game impressed many at last year’s E3, but the hype hasn’t come without its controversies. Last year, Titanfall was confirmed to only run in 720p when many thought the standard would be 1080p for next-gen titles.
The founder of Respawn, Vince Zampella, confirmed on Twitter recently what many fans wanted to know: What is the max player count for an online match?
Zampella wrote a brief but declarative statement:
@MrClutch514 @Respawn 6v6 is max player count. Turned out to be the best balance with ai for us.

That’s right, a next-gen game running a 6v6 match. I haven’t seen these numbers since the original Call of Duty when it was 4v4 or Gears of War with their 5v5 multiplayer. However, this may not be inherently bad news, and could keep the games competitive, which a lot of gamers may appreciate. Since players can use their Titans as separate entities, the game could end up being a 12v12 with 6 ai opponents on each side.
Titanfall lands in the US March 11th and in Europe, March 13th.
