It’s not long now until TJ&E make their big return for the first time in over 15 years. ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove is mere days away, whether you’re ready for it or not.

I’ve been waiting a really long time for a new ToeJam & Earl game in the same vein as the 1991 original. Maybe longer than I’d like to admit, about two-thirds of my life. I’m 32, you do the math.

TJ and Big E will be making their way to home consoles for the first time since their excursion in Mission to Earth on the original Xbox in 2002 on March 1st with Back in the Groove, a title more funky than Funkotron and steeped in Jolt Cola flavor.

Back in the Groove brings back the original gameplay found in the first ToeJam & Earl on the Sega Genesis and gives you a whole lot more of it. These days games have a little thing called “persistent progression,” and fans of the series may be surprised to find this latest entry has a little bit of that in store for them in the form of hats and present item unlocks. Like a fine wine with an aged steak, both also steeped in Jolt.

Whether you played the original games or not, keep your eyes peeled for our review of ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove on February 28 and get ready to rev up that wallet for its release on PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch just one day later on March 1. The ’90s are back, baby!
