Fans of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess have seen little to no information about the remaster coming out in March. Today, however, Amazon France leaked some juicy tidbits about what might actually be among some of the game’s unique features. While the information has since been removed, the Internet successfully consumed and digested it long before Nintendo or Amazon could react.
The most interesting features that were leaked through the listing were: a Hero Mode akin to those found in all modern Legend of Zelda releases and re-releases, gamepad functionality that will allow players to swap around their items in real time (similar to Wind Waker HD and other remasters), as well as a completely new dungeon that will use the read/write functionality of the Wolf Link amiibo.
If this information is to be taken seriously, then players who pre-ordered the Wolf Link amiibo bundle will be much happier than those who will have to wait for the individually printed Wolf Links coming later this year.
The Wolf Link amiibo – up until this point – has only been hinted at having an involvement with Twilight Princess HD. However, according to the Amazon France leak, the amiibo will unlock a dungeon known as “The Cave of Twilight” — or alternatively, “The Twilight Cave”, depending on your translation of the phrase “Cave du Crépuscule”. It doesn’t explain explicitly how the read/write feature will work with the dungeon, but it is nice to know that the amiibo won’t be something as silly as a quick-access to the transformation later in the game.
The Legend of Zelda amiibos from the Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS line have also been rumoured to function in a similar way to non-Legend of Zelda amiibos in Hyrule Warriors. For those who haven’t played Hyrule Warriors, this means granting Link various item drops such as arrows, hearts, and rupees.
The gamepad functions, as well as the hero mode inclusion, aren’t exactly big surprises. However, an additional dungeon that is unlocked by the Wolf Link amiibo is a welcome surprise.
As always, leaks should never be treated as 100% accurate, so take this information with a grain of salt. While the near-instantaneous removal of this information does suggest that Amazon or Nintendo caught the leak and removed it promptly, it could just as easily be an error, so keep that in mind.
What do you guys think about this potential leak? Would you be upset about the Wolf Link amiibo having an extra dungeon? Did you pre-order the bundle just in case such a feature was in the game? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below!
