What is Pine?

Pine is an upcoming 3D action adventure game currently in development by Twirlbound. Players will take on the role of Hue, a shy yet brave young adult who is attempting to find a new home for his leftover tribe. In order to do this, Hue needs to travel the landscapes of Albamare and work with (and against) a wide variety of species.

Pine is world-centric, allowing for events to happen across the island even without your involvement. With this mechanic, players will see all the species fighting for survival — from small power shifts to utter extinction of an entire race.

Throughout their journey, the player will be able to uncover the history behind the island of Albamare, while using a variety of tools to help them in their quest.

The Kickstarter campaign

Twirlbound had a goal of $100,000 for their campaign on Kickstarter. With just under two days remaining before the campaign’s end, a final flurry of pledges backed the project to fully fund it.

The money funded to the campaign will go towards the development, Kickstarter fees, taxes, audio, office and server costs for the game — and of course, to fulfill pledge rewards as well.

With the success of the campaign, it will allow the core team of six to work full time on the game, along with hiring a freelancer for art support. Thanks to the support of over 3,000 backers, development on Pine is looking to be in full swing.

The game is set to release in 2018 on PC, Mac and Linux, with the potential to see console launches on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One.
