Publisher Ubisoft is bringing its Uplay service to all the next generation consoles. Ubisoft’s flagship Assassins’ Creed: Black Flag and brand new IP Watch Dogs will both support Uplay integration.
Uplay is Ubisoft’s answer to Valve’s Steam and EA’s Origin platforms. Tapping into Uplay servers via Xbox Live and Playstation Network, Uplay tracks player progress and grants points which can then be used to unlock as of yet unspecified rewards.
Watch Dogs is a futuristic action detective thriller set in a Big Brother-esque Chicago
Fortunately for Nintendo, Ubisoft also announced that Uplay support will be coming to the Wii U sometime in November.
A major update for the PC version of Uplay is in the works which will add or improve upon a number of features like a digital games store, social integration and of course a DRM scheme.
The publisher seems confident that Uplay will be able to compete against Steam in the PC market.
