UPDATE: Ubisoft has released Patch 4 after a delay of only one day. Some Xbox One owners are reporting the update is over 40GB.
Today Ubisoft opened a new chapter in its drama surrounding Assassin’s Creed: Unity when it announced that Patch 4, one of the last major updates to the game, would be delayed from its planned December 15th release.
In addition to an extended mea culpa, the short post titled “Patch 4 On Hold” to the Assasssin’s Creed Live Update page included only one detail of note, saying,
We are committed to delivering major performance improvements, which requires that we refurbish the Paris map and that will take a few more days to hit the high level of quality our players deserve.
While the team seems to playing it very safe with its next (and likely very significant) patch, the delay from today’s deadline has irked many Unity players, many of whom have waited for a full, workable game since the title released on November 11th. A cursory look at the new announcement’s comments shows irate and disappointed fans alike.
