Unity? HoloLens? What are these?

Unity is a highly versatile game engine, and toolset for the creation of games. It’s favoured by indie studios due to its low-cost and large asset store; here you can buy pre-built assets for use in your game. Unity has moved into its 5th version recently.

HoloLens is a standalone augmented reality headset created by Microsoft. Augmented Reality overlays the digital world onto the physical space, HoloLens then allows the user to interact with it, creating 3D models then sending the blueprint off for printing, interacting with others during work, playing games, or even mapping a far off planet in your own living room. It has only recently been unveiled by Kudo Tsunoda, who also headed up the team who created Kinect. He has subsequently left that role to work as Global Publisher.

The Unity Engine HoloLens tools will be available to all Unity developers who have the Unity Pro or Personal Editions of the toolset, and will be available on Windows 10.
