Nintendo has teamed up with Universal Parks & Resorts to create theme park attractions based on Nintendo games and characters. The move is the next progression of Nintendo’s strategy to branch out into new markets, including the announcement earlier this year that they would begin letting DeNA use Nintendo IPs for smartphone games.
The announcement promises that the Nintendo license will be used for “major attractions,” which could mean that there might be new rides and not just a theme restaurant or something more low-key.
Granted this is all speculation since Nintendo and Universal are still trying to “create specific concepts”, but as a huge fan of theme parks I’m going to wish upon a power star and hope that my dream of a real life Pokémon Snap ride is in the works. It’ll almost make up for Nintendo not making a proper Snap sequel for the Wii U. Almost.
We’ll post more details as we get them, so check GameSkinny for all your Nintendo theme park news.
