When he isn’t rapping in the background stages of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (I knocc ’em down homie!), hip hop legend Snoop Dogg (aka Snoopzilla, Snoop Lion) is helping Ubisoft announce a port of Rayman Legends for next-gen.
While Snoop’s actual involvement in the game isn’t being discussed… I would say it is a pretty safe bet we will get a new music level using one of his songs.
What details Ubisoft is willing to discuss are the new costumes and challenges added to the game. Of course this wouldn’t be a next gen Ubisoft title without console exclusives. Xbox One owners will get Splinter Ray, Ray Vaas, and Globox Vaas. PlayStation 4 owners will get Assassin Ray and Funky Ray. PS4 will also support the Dual Shock 4’s touchpad (most likely for controlling Murfy) and it will also support remote play with the PS Vita… even though a PS Vita version of the game has been available for quite some time.
If you have yet to play Rayman Legends or Rayman Origins, you are really missing out on something special. Legends is easily in my top 5 games this year and I found myself grinning like an idiot (more than usual) my entire playthrough. To prove just how awesome this game is, Ubisoft has made a browser based demo entirely free of charge. It even has Xbox 360 controller support!
The next-gen version of Rayman Legends will be available on February 28 th 2014 for $59.99. I expect to see Snoop Dogg next as a DLC Cannabis plant in Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare sometime next year.
UPDATE- The creators of the promotional video above have been kind enough to contact us. The video was produced for Maker Studios’ collaborative gaming and geek culture network, Polaris. Snoop Dogg also happens to be a partner with Maker, so perhaps my speculation of a Snoop Dogg music level was a little premature. My apologies to Polaris for the omission, and great job on the video!
