Ankama Games-developed MMO Wakfu will be leaving the hands of its North American publisher, Square Enix, in March. The game will instead by published by Ankama themselves after the transition, which is scheduled to take place on March 1.
After taking publishing into their own hands, Ankama Games will be handling “community management, customer support, promotion, sales, marketing and other live operation duties”. So it seems with the shift, Wakfu may be seeing some exciting changes in the commmunity and promotional department.
Nothing mentioned in the FAQ on the publisher change mentions gameplay-related topics, so we can assume that the game leaving Square Enix won’t have much of or any effect on actually playing the game.
Wakfu is a Java-based MMORPG and can be played on Windows, Mac, and Linux. If you haven’t tried it and have a special place in your heart for turn-based strategy RPGs, it may just be up your alley.
