It’s been quite some time since we last received any news about Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. Revealed nearly two years ago, a new trailer during the Summer Game Fest 2023 presentation revealed that the campaign would be playable in co-op. Not only will you and a friend be able to team up to tackle the hordes of Orks, but you can bring a third friend along for the fun!
Three-player co-op is definitely a pleasant surprise for Space Marine 2, but those without friends won’t be left in the cold. Publisher Focus Entertainment has confirmed that AI companions will accompany you in single-player, meaning you won’t miss out on the fun interactions between characters. Sadly, it now seems possible that Space Marine 2 may miss a 2023 launch as the trailer ends with the vague “Winter” launch window. That could mean as late as March 2024.
For those in love with the Warhammer 40,000 franchise, a collector’s edition bundle is now available for pre-order. It will include a steelbook case, a 64-page art book, and a rather large resin statue of protagonist Lt. Titus. This will be available for all platforms, though PC players will receive a digital code.
The original Space Marine released 100 years ago in 2011 for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. A lot’s changed since then, so it will be exciting to see where the sequel goes. Even if the release date is vague, it appears we’re closer to finding out more. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S sometime this Winter. Stay tuned for more as we learn it.
