Sure, it would’ve improved the launch lineups for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Still, we rarely see huge games hit during the summer; it’ll be nice to have this one before the drought arrives.
Ubisoft has released a new story trailer for the hotly anticipated Watch Dogs. At the end of that trailer, we get the long-awaited release date: May 27th. That’s when it will arrive for the PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360 (the Wii U was not listed).
The game has been turning heads for a while, and we all thought it would drop in November of 2013. The delay was necessary, though, and Ubisoft described it as an “intense decision.” Well, if the game was going to be disappointing, I’ve got no problem with giving the designers more time.
The publisher expects Watch Dogs to sell around 6 million copies, which is about the same number the original Assassin’s Creed sold when it released in 2007. AC was a huge new franchise for Ubisoft last generation; is Watch Dogs the first big IP of the new era?
If you don’t have one of the next-gen consoles yet, you might want to own one for this game. This is the type of adventure that deserves a hefty amount of hardware power, and wouldn’t you appreciate it more with that extra boost? You always want to play the best games with the best systems, right?
