Watch Dogs released last week and has broken all the records for Ubisoft, beating out previous records they held with Assassin’s Creed III. Watch Dogs follows Aiden Pierce and his quest to avenge his niece’s death and find her killer.
The game has sold over 4 million copies and broke day one record sales for Ubisoft as well. According to a report released by Ukie, Watch Dogs came in at number 17 of all time best-selling launch weeks in the UK beat out by only brands such as Call of Duty, Battlefield and GTA.
“In terms of units, ‘Watch Dogs’ breaks into the Top 20 for best ever launch weeks taking 17th spot on the list. The new release finds itself in good company with only titles from mega-brands GTA, Call of Duty, FIFA & Battlefield ahead of it. “
Considering the company Watch Dogs has on the list, the game has done very well as a new brand. The top five of the list were also big games that generated a lot of excitement in the video game community. Here is the top five as presented on their website:
- WATCH DOGS – UBISOFT
- MARIO KART 8 – NINTENDO
- WOLFENSTEIN: THE NEW ORDER – BETHESDA SOFTWORKS
- FIFA 14 – ELECTRONIC ARTS
- MINECRAFT: PLAYSTATION 3 EDITION – SONY COMPUTER ENT.
Mario Kart 8 and Wolfenstein were also games that caused a stir and have received nothing but good reviews so being on top I think Ubisoft considers it a great honor. Did you pick up a copy of Watch Dogs? Tell us what you think about these numbers below!
