With the upcoming release of Watch Dogs, many players get excited and want to pre-load the game so they are ready to go exactly as the clock strikes midnight on launch day. The pre-load feature has been around only for a short while, and Sony had Watch Dogs on their list of available titles.
Pushing Back the Pre-Load Feature
Sony released an update to their firmware adding the pre-load program for exactly these purposes. But it seems that something went awry, because Destiny will now be the first game that they allow gamers to pre-load on the system, which is not until later in the year.
Also, Gaming Target reached out to Ubisoft regarding the matter and were told that “[Watch Dogs] was never pre-loadable in [their] territory,” aka the US.
No Pre-Loads until September
This is disheartening for a lot of PS4 fans because with the new 1.7 update, they were expecting the pre-load feature as one of the biggest and most useful. Now, unfortunately, it looks like users of the PSN store can’t actually make use of the update until Destiny comes out in September.
What do you think of the change in plans? Do you think players should be able to pre-load Watch Dogs at this point?
Watch Dogs is available on the Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on May 27th.
