I’m so excited for WildStar. It’s exactly the type of game I’ve been craving for a long time. The path system is yet another thing added to this excitement.
There are four paths: (that they’ve announced so far)
- Soldier – All you want to do in an MMO is kill things, lots and lots of things, in many many different ways? Soldier is for you! I think the coolest part of this path is you get to use special experimental weapons.
- Scientist – My personal favorite. I think the reason is I’ve never seen anything like this in other games. It’s all about going to every ancient facility and finding out why it’s there, what’s its purpose. You also use your scan bot to figure out the benefits of plants and wildlife to use it to your advantage.
- Explorer – Do you leave no place untouched? Ever find yourself climbing every wall in Tamriel? Explorer is for you.
- Settler – The purpose of the settler is to build. You can build just about anything, vendors, campfires, buff towers, and anything to help serve your fellow player. These will be one of the most essential paths I feel.
Carbine figured out what paths to create by using an ingenious method. They used a psychological survey similar to Myers Briggs to figure out the four most common play styles. So these paths they have created come directly from how real players play MMOs. I don’t think there has ever been another game to use this method. GENIUS.
