This past Tuesday, Sony held a PlayStation Meeting, where it unveiled the PS4 Pro and the PS4 Slim. While showing off the Pro console, the company mentioned that it will support 4K and HDR gaming for every title. If you currently own the original PS4, Sony stated that it would release a patch to upscale your games so they would support 4K and HDR. Awesome, right?
That’s what we thought. In a recent interview with Executive Vice President of Sony Interative Entertainment Masayasu Ito, Ito mentioned that the patches intended to upscale your current PS4 games might cost money. Ito also went on to say that the price would vary by each game, which would be set by the game’s developer.
Sony plans on releasing the patch for Uncharted 4 and Infamous: First Light once the console launches on November 10. All Sony published games in 2017, starting with Horizon Zero Dawn, will have the patch already built into the game.
What do you think about this? Are you willing to shell out the extra cash for your older games to look better? Let me know in the comments!
