There may be a Silver Mario amiibo coming to store shelves next month. A employee of the retail store Fred Meyer reported on Reddit’s amiibo subreddit that the toy is listed in the store’s computer system. The retail employee posted a photo of store’s point of sale system, which lists the amiibo with the release date of May 29th. A Target employee also stated the company’s inventory has the product listed for sale.
Nintendo held a Nintendo Direct presentation on April 1st in which they announced that several new amiibos would be released May 29th. The new amiibos to come to retail stores are Charizard, Greninja, Jigglypuff, Lucina, Ness, Pac-Man, Robin, and Wario. Other retail employees posted that they attempted to look up the silver Mario amiibo in their store’s computer system, but no record was found.
Recently an amiibo collector managed to buy the Silver Mario from a Chinese auction website. The collector uploaded a video to Youtube using the amiibo in Mario Party 10, which shows that the amiibo works and is legit, because Mario appears on a silver base with silver coins.
As of right now, there has not been any official news from Nintendo on a release of the Silver Mario amiibo. Fans and collectors will have to wait till May 29th to find out.
