FOX has plans for the release of an Assassin's Creed movie by 2014.

It’s about damn time we have an Assassin’s Creed movie. Helping make that a reality is its newest team member, Academy Award nominee Scott Frank. According to his interview with Creative Screenwriting about his Wolverine venture, Frank often looks for a new challenging way to retell a franchise. He also enjoys attempting projects he has never written about before. Given his career history, this is easy to see.

Frank has a portfolio which includes a political thriller (The Interpreter), a crime thriller (The Lookout), a family film (Marley & Me), comedies (Plain ClothesGet Shorty), dramas (Little Man Tate), thrillers (Dead AgainMalice), science fiction (Minority Report), and the Oscar-nominated screenplay for Out of Sight. Whew.

It’s exciting to see his talent and creativity through so many different genres. Video games don’t always translate credibly to film, but considering how well Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time did, there is a really good chance this film adaptation can do just as well. After all, a lot of the game play and plot aspects of Prince of Persia are very similar to Assassin’s Creed. They both are based in an older historical-like time period, and although Prince of Persia is more heavy on the wall jumping, I’d love to see the two protagonists from each game go toe-to-toe in a rooftop chase. I’m sure it would be a stalemate.

The film is scheduled to arrive from FOX in June 2015. Hopefully, we will get some more updates from Frank before then.

I'm a 29 year old Jersey girl who loves games. I currently work full time, volunteer part time at this awesome non-profit called Amman Imman, and go to school part time. I also train in jiu jitsu. So time isn't quite on my side (unlike that song says). I have been trying unsuccessfully for years to clone myself so I can devote one of me to boring stuff like working and laundry - thus allowing more time for gaming. I'm willing to offer large sums of imaginary money to any who can make this happen.
