World of Warcraft‘s 9th anniversary is actually on November 23rd, but that’s not stopping Blizzard from celebrating early. The in-game event for World of Warcraft‘s 9th anniversary starts today and runs through December 2nd.
Everyone that logs in from now through December 2nd will get the achievement WoW’s 9th Anniversary, but that’s not all. A Celebration Package can be retrieved from the in-game mailbox. This item gives players the WoW’s 9th Anniversary buff, which increases all experience and reputation gains by 9% for 1 hour.
The best part about this buff is that it is reusable and only has a 10 second cooldown. While the buff is active, players will also receive a special visual effect that makes them look like they are wearing Contest Winner’s Tabard.
This gift is similar to last year’s 8% experience buff and it looks like it only works until the event is over. This only benefits players that want to level up or get more rep during the event, so many players are disappointed. Blizzard plans on only doing big events for big anniversaries now, so hopefully next year’s 10th anniversary is big enough.
Hopefully, Warlords of Draenor will be out by next year’s anniversary.
What do you think of WoW’s 9th anniversary? Do you have any stories about this long running MMO? Let me know in the comments.
