As a recently surfaced blog post appeared yesterday, World of Warcraft players and veterans should be wary of their favorite characters and preserving his/her name.
Blizzard; developer of many of the most popular PC games such as StarCraft, Diablo, and World of Warcraft; took to its website to announce that a purge of all inactive character names is incoming.
When Is This Madness Occurring?!
According to the post, any character you haven’t logged into prior to November 13, 2008 will have their names wiped, allowing other players to pick them up and also allowing you to rename the character, or toon, for free.
The approaching pre-patch (6.0.2) for Warlords of Draenor, the newest expansion, is the patch that is set to free the locked names of Azeroth.
I Love My Character Names.. How Do I Save Them?
In order to preserve your character’s names, you will simply have to login to each one prior to the release of patch 6.0.2.
The patch is already live on the Public Test Realm, so it’s safe to say we won’t be waiting too long for its release. That being said, in order to rescue your favorite names from certain death, players should make haste to the re-activation screen.
Well played, Blizzard, well played…
