XCOM: Enemy Unknown blew people’s minds. It was a remake that just did everything right in an era we gamers have come to expect such things to be, at best, soulless. With the success of the game on every platform it has launched on, the question of a sequel has hovered over the thoughts of many. A dark omen for some, a hopeful expectation for others.
The dramatic moment…
This morning the internet was abuzz with rumors on what could very well be the sequel we have been hoping for/dreading. Steam and the South Korean classification board’s website both showed listings for a game called XCOM: Enemy Within. Speculation went wild about this being the sequel, or a new game entirely, but many were surprised to see something like this so close on the heels of the launch of The Bureau: XCOM Declassified.
2K Marin noticed this speculation. They have confirmed the game is real, and that they will do a formal announcement and reveal of the game on Wednesday, August 21. We can stop the wild speculation as to whether it is real or not.
Now, obviously, is when we begin wild speculation as to what will differ from Enemy Unknown.
