XDefiant will soon be open for everyone to test out. As revealed at the Ubisoft Forward event, the free-to-play shooter that pits various factions influenced by Ubisoft properties against each other will be holding an open session across three days next week.
This open beta-like period will be held from June 21 to June 23 and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The XDefiant Twitter account also mentioned a special treat for those who played in the closed beta back in April — the chance to start playing on June 20, one day earlier than everyone else.
There weren’t any specifications when it came to what’s included in this open beta, though. Most of the segment about XDefiant focused on the fact that it will launch later this summer and went over the roadmap for the first year of content.
XDefiant executive producer Mark Rubin did mention that the open session would be addressing player feedback from the closed beta. Naturally, it’s also being held to better prepare them for when it’s time to launch. Judging from the launch content and the similarity of what was available in the closed beta, it seems likely that the open beta will function a lot like the latter.
If you weren’t part of the lucky ones able to play during the closed beta, you can get a pretty good idea of what to expect by reading about my time playing a preview build. I had a lot of fun with it and can’t wait to dive back in next week.
Although the open beta is only being held on current-gen systems, the shooter is still being worked on for last-gen platforms as well. XDefiant is being developed for on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
