Hi-Rez Studios, makers of MOBA game SMITE, recently announced that SMITE Blitz has finished its stint in technical alpha. It has moved into soft launch.

SMITE Blitz is a mobile SMITE spinoff game that takes place in an alternate SMITE universe. It’s more of an action RPG than a MOBA. The soft launch includes the United States, the U.K., Canada, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, and The Netherlands, but the full global launch is expected sometime later this year.

In Smite Blitz, players choose from 60 available gods spread across different mythologies, with the promise of more to come. They team up with other players to take on story mode challenges, PvP, and a unique challenge mode.

While in its alpha mode, Smite Blitz offered rewards for players who registered and additional bonuses for hitting significant registration milestones. That pattern looks like it will continue with Blitz as well, with a series of Gem rewards and what seems to be a new god for reaching each specific milestone of registrations.

It’s a sensible way to ensure Blitz doesn’t go the road of other games that rely on larger numbers of players to stay alive.

Those interested in seeing what Smite Blitz has to offer can check it out on the Apple App Store or Google Play.
