In response to Square-Enix’s revised financial reports indicating huge losses for the company. the president of the company, Yoichi Wada, has stepped down from his position. The resignation was reported in the full financial revision document which can be read here.
We consumers will not find out who will replace Mr. Wada until the annual general meeting of Square-Enix shareholders which will take place in June. The results will come out at the end of that month.
Even though we do not know who will be his replacement, it is speculated that it will be the representative director Yosuke Matsuda. This remains to be seen.
Yoichi Wada’s resignation is a pretty big event. He has been the president since Square merged with Enix, to this day a sore subject for quite a large amount of JRPG fans. Whether or not one man’s resignation from Square-Enix will put the company on the right track will have to be seen in the next few years.
