Yooka-Laylee delay doesn’t upset fans

In the latest of ongoing media coverage for Yooka-Laylee, developer Playtonic Games has released a new trailer for its appearance at E3 2016. Unfortunately, this trailer comes with some disappointing news: the Kickstarter-funded game has been delayed to Q1 2017 (it was originally slated for this October).

In a shocking twist, however, fans seem to have reacted positively to the trailer (seen below). Andy Robinson, the game’s writer, took to Twitter to announce his delight at the lack of negativity towards the news. He and fellow developer Mark Stevenson were also interviewed by NintendoLife to shed light on the game’s delay and progress.

The trailer displays many of the promised gameplay elements from the game’s Kickstarter updates — including transformations, minecart rides, collectibles upon collectibles, and feats of teamwork from the titular duo. And before you ask, yes, those are the characters speaking in Banjo-Kazooie-esque gibberish.

If you like the trailer music, you’ll be delighted to know that Rare veteran Grant Kirkhope (Banjo-Kazooie) claimed it as his work. David Wise (Donkey Kong Country) has also signed onto the game.
