Sitting in the New York heat, you rush to your local game store several days after Sony announces the pricing for its new console, the PlayStation 4. You try Best Buy, GameStop, Target – you even swallow your pride and try Wal-Mart. Alas, the preorders are gone.
If you’re in the vicinity of New York City today, do not fear, for Sony has made 444 Playstation 4 consoles available for purchase before the full launch of the system on Friday.
The PlayStation Blog this morning released that anyone would be able to go to the Standard, High Line hotel at 848 Washington St. in Manhattan and pick up a brand new PlayStation 4 today. They caution against bringing cash, because they won’t take it; this is a credit only opportunity.
If you’re a bit too late to pick up a new console, you’ll be able to venture into the hotel and find some PS4 demos splattered around – complete with developers on hand with whom you can chat and perhaps even play a game.
The blog says the event will continue until about 11:00 p.m. EST, leading into Spike TV’s PS4 All Access show – which is said to hold some more surprises regarding the PS4 launch.
Sound off in the comments down below and let me know if you’ll be making the freezing trek to beautiful Manhattan to pick up an advanced PS4!
