Yukatas Beat Axes: Fire Emblem: Awakening DLC Brings a Rather Interesting Side Story to the Mix.

Any excuse to see Chrom in a Yakata is fine by me.

It has been no surprise that Fire Emblem: Awakening is selling rather well on the 3DS. A Fantastic strategy game series that gains strength with each new installation, Awakening came at the right time with the right tools to make it worth getting a 3DS for. Returning to old gimmicks like forwarding the time in the game to the point where you can play as the children of your fallen heroes was welcomed with open arms.

So to see a DLC released for a 3DS game is both interesting, and maybe a sign of good things to come.

Awakening’s Hidden Hot Springs brings a rather fresh look to the game in form of it’s storyline: just like the last one, Anna – a staple of many a Fire Emblem game – has invited dear old Chrom to her hot springs getaway for a little R & R. And, of course, naturally, for some reason or the other Ghouls attack.

And, of course, naturally, its time for some of the cast to change costumes and don some rather fashionable Yukatas.

If, for some reason, you are not already hooked by the prospect of Chrom blushing in a Yukata, there are some new dialogue options between characters if you take them with you into battle, including some that pass between fathers and children.

It may not be an entirely new game straight off the bat, or have any hints to the Persona vs Fire Emblem teaser that was released a few months ago, but if you are a fan of the game, and have £2 to spare, I would say give it a shot, and see what you like.

Fire Emblem Awakening – Hidden Hot springs will be available in the Nintendo store on May 9th
