If you didn’t know, at the beginning of April 2013, there were beta trials for real money internet gambling–and apparently it is working. Zynga, a social giant of which many of its games can be found on Facebook, has acquired Spooky Cool Labs. SCL was founded by Joe Kaminkow, a slot machine veteran.
SCL is headquartered in Chicago, and employs about 40 people. According to Ligman, the team is expected to “work in conjunction with Zynga’s San Francisco social casino team”. The Spooky Cool Labs team is also expected to continue work on their existing titles like MGM’s The Wizard of Oz.
Surprisingly this comes just two weeks after Zynga laid off some 500 employees. Zynga was founded in 2007 and boasts such titles as Farmville, CastleVille, and a host of nonmonetary games.
Currently the 24/7 online poker does have some restrictions like the players must be 21 and physically within the state of Nevada. New Jersey and Delaware are also making plans for such ventures. With a massive amount of money making potential, the comfort of home for its players, and newly designed software to help police the states policies, it is only a matter of time before other states will get involved in online gambling.
Time will only tell how these ventures will pan out.
