My thoughts on the first few hours of Fallout 4

The long wait is finally over! Here are my first thoughts about Fallout 4.

The long wait is finally over everyone! It’s been a long five months since Fallout 4 was announced, and I have been more excited than a 12-year-old girl at a Justin Bieber concert. Now that I have had a few hours with the game, I would like to give my honest first impressions of the game overall.

[Spoilers ahead!]

I am playing on an Xbox One, and it is taking some getting used to since I’m more used to PC controls. The controls, however, are very nice and my character reacts well in game. I really like the addition of the sprint ability. Since the world of Fallout is so vast, it really comes in handy.

I am surprisingly enjoying the fact that my character talks, which is something I was sure I was going to hate. I couldn’t get used to the idea that my character would talk, but the voice acting is very well done and it doesn’t seem forced.

The story of the game is very interesting so far, and it seems to have a darker tone than the last games. I was completely taken off guard in the first 30 minutes of gameplay when your wife (or husband) is shot and killed and your child is taken, leaving you helpless inside your sleeping chamber.

The graphics are stunning, as well. I’m not sure why everyone was complaining about them; they look great to me. I also really appreciate my dog companion. He is a lot smarter than I thought he would be and very helpful, not only in battle but also when I’m looking for items.

All in all, so far the game is very enjoyable. I have played for a little over five hours so far and I am really having fun being back in a Fallout game. It’s been a long time coming but it seems like it was well worth the wait. Like all the E3 trailer said: “It’s good to be back.”
