Recently EA released a new trailer for Star Wars Battlefront, showing off the four planets available at launch. They highlighted areas in Hoth, Endor, Tatooine and Sullust. I watched the video and it looks brilliant. It got me excited to play Battlefront again, as trailers do, but it got me thinking a bit on how amazing it would be to explore these worlds.
Now I know what you are saying… “But we are going to be seeing these worlds when the game comes out. We will be able to fight it out on those four planets.” Yes, you are right, we will get to see them and fight it out on them as well, but I want a bit more than that.
The trailer reminded me how beautiful the beta was. It was cool fighting the battle of Hoth, and shooting up Stormtroopers on Tatooine, but I can’t really look around the environment while I am doing this. I can’t soak in the visuals since there is so much action going on around me.
I want to walk around these maps on my own, look at how well EA has made these iconic worlds of the Star Wars universe, see the vast tundra that is Hoth and the expanding forests of the moon of Endor.
To walk through these worlds would be an amazing experience but it is just not possible with Battlefront. When you are playing online you will be picked off very quickly if you are just standing there, looking at the scenery.
The game should still be good when it comes out, but the worlds in the Star Wars universe are just as important as any battle that happens on them. If the visuals in the finished game are as good as they are in the Beta, then each map will look amazing. I just won’t have the chance to fully soak in the landscapes EA have made and that is a bit sad.
Here is hoping that EA will patch in private matches as soon as possible so everyone will be able to have a full look on the maps they have made
