Disney Dreamlight Valley: What to Do If Stuck on a Loading Screen

If you've gotten stuck on a loading screen in Disney Dreamlight Valley, there's not much you can do.

Some Disney Dreamlight Valley players are getting stuck on a loading screen during gameplay, forcing them to close out and relaunch the game. Often this is caused by server issues, so you’ll want to check those first.

This quick guide will list all of the possible issues that may be causing Dreamlight Valley to lock up on the loading screen.

Check Dreamlight Valley’s Server Status

Since server congestion and other issues tend to be the main culprit when getting stuck on a loading screen in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you’ll want to check whether the platform you’re playing on or the game itself is seeing any server hangups.

You can check whether your platform experiences any server issues here:

You can also follow official Disney Dreamlight Valley Twitter to find out if there are any server issues or updates. Unfortunately, all you can do is wait before the servers restore their normal working conditions if that’s the cause.

Install the Latest Patch

On September 15, 2022, developer Gameloft released a new patch for Dreamlight Valley with the following statement:

“Fixed Error #7, which caused some players to experience an issue with the game sticking on the loading screen if they quit the game while having the “Well Fed” active buff.”

The next day, the developer released the following statement on Steam for users who got stuck on loading screens after encountering a minor bug during gameplay:

Australian and New Zealand players will get Initialisation error 7 after logging out with the gold energy buff. This means that they are unable to log back into the game. Also seems to cause an error with food items where they will not always work the first time being used. (Fixed by changing your computer clock time zone to an unaffected timezone, though this does not prevent the issue happening again).

The patch that fixes this issue was released on September 16, so if you haven’t updated your game yet, be sure to do so.

You can also make sure that your Steam app updates games automatically by following these steps:

  1. Start Steam.
  2. Select the “Library” tab.
  3. Right-click on Disney Dreamlight Valley.
  4. Select “Properties” from the list.
  5. Select the “Updates” tab.
  6. Choose “Always Keep This Game Updated” feature.
  7. Save and exit.
