Above is the 1080p version of the bit of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain gameplay shown at GDC yesterday. This six minute portion of the game is meant to be a sort of tutorial, featuring Big Boss crawling his way out of a hospital after 9 years in a coma.
The term “gameplay” here is very loose as there is no sign of a UI or controls, though this is how the first few minutes of the game will play out.
Being the first few minutes of the game, this portion of Metal Gear Solid 5 is scripted. The rest of the title will be open-world.
Check out the trailer for The Phantom Pain if you haven’t already. Kojima Productions look to be outdoing themselves this time — though fans of the series may be disappointed that David Hayter will not be part of the voice talent this time around. By “may be disappointed” I mean “are definitely disappointed”.
