How Often Do I Need To Write?

This article is over 11 years old and may contain outdated information

We get this question all the time from contributors on GameSkinny. And while we hope that you will publish new content on GameSkinny as often as you can, the truth is that it is totally up to you how often you’d like to contribute.

Recommended Videos

Some people post 2-3 articles a day on GameSkinny, while others post once a week, or even just a couple times a month. Find the right balance for you. To help you find that balance, here are a few tips:

Don’t burn yourself out

Many of our contributors are former bloggers who burned out under the pressure to post everyday on their own blog. For them, the ability to post only when they want to (and still get read) is a huge relief. On GameSkinny, you only need to post when you have something to say. There’s no pressure here.

Post when you feel inspired

Don’t feel like you need to write something ‘just because.’ Post when you’re inspired. The posts that do the best on GameSkinny are the ones written with passion. Did you love (or hate) the last game you played? What is something that drives you nuts about the gaming industry? What are some things that you think everyone should know?

Post when your readers demand it

As you gain individual notoriety on GameSkinny, you may develop an army of faithful readers who always look forward to your next post. When this happens, you might want to consider posting on a somewhat regular schedule. It doesn’t need to happen every day, or even every week. It just needs to be somewhat consistent — else, your dedicated fans will  slowly start to forget about you (it’s sad and true).
