Keepsake Boxes are new with The Sims 4 Growing Together expansion that introduces a new mechanic allowing you to pass down memories and items through your family generations. Family heirlooms live on in Growing Together, but you’ve got to know how to use a Keepsake Box to pass them along.
How to Get Keepsake Boxes
There are three versions of the Keepsake Box available for purchase Build/Buy Mode. You can type into the search Keepsake Box to quickly find your options. Each version does the same thing. Once you have purchased the version you like for your family, set it in your house where you will remember it is.
How to Use a Keepsake Box
There are a few caveats to using the Keepsake Box. The Sim that uses it has to be an Elder. With your Elder selected you can designate them as the owner of the Keepsake Box.
Beware: An Elder can only do this once, so if you plan on having multiple Keepsake Boxes make sure the correct Elder is claiming the right box.
You can put in various items, like Milestone rewards, into the Keepsake Box. Open the box and drag the items in or out as you wish. Your Elder can “Ponder the Meaning of Life” to change Family Dynamics or erase previously earned dynamics by selecting “Nobody Knows What Family Means.”
Before your Elder gets too old, you will want to select another Sim in your family to “Entrust Keepsake Box.” This will pass the box along to that Sim, but they will not be able to entrust it to another until they are an Elder. You can continue to add new items to it in the meantime.
That is how you can get the Keepsake Boxes in The Sims 4 Growing Together and how to use them. For more help on The Sims 4, check out our growing guides page.
