Destiny 2: How to Get Dead Messenger

Dead Messenger is Destiny 2‘s new seasonal exotic weapon for Season of the Risen. Its intrinsic perk is called Trinary Vision which makes the grenades launched from it release three energy waves on impact.

There is some work to be done before unlocking such a unique weapon. In this guide, we’ll be going over how to get the Dead Messenger grenade launcher in Destiny 2.

How to Get Dead Messenger in Destiny 2

While the path to unlocking Dead Messenger isn’t a difficult one, the whole process involves several steps to be done sequentially. Players can unlock Dead Messenger by completing the Vox Obscura exotic mission.

In order to gain access to Vox Obscura, you’ll have to play through the Operation Elbrius questline from Season of the Risen. This means that only season pass owners will be able to unlock the Dead Messenger grenade launcher. In addition, players must have already finished The Investigation mission and the Rising Tensions quest.

First, head to the H.E.L.M and acquire the Operation Elbrius questline from the war table.

This questline includes 28 steps, however, you only need to complete the first 7. Doing this will prompt Empress Caiatl to give you the Vox Obscura mission from the H.E.L.M. War Table. The exotic mission should now become accessible from the Throne World map screen with a recommended power level of at least 1550.

It is also worth noting that Vox Obscura can be completed as a fireteam of up to three guardians.

In Vox Obscura, you’ll need to complete a series of timed objectives that involve destroying goliath tanks, clearing cabal codewardens, and finally defeating Qabix the Insurgent. Throughout the mission, you’ll need to make use of Drake tanks or Interceptors to destroy doors and gain access to new areas.

For the most part, the encounters are fairly straightforward but you’ll need to keep an eye on the timer. If the time runs up before you complete an encounter, this will result in a wipe. After defeating Qabix, players can acquire Dead Messenger from the chest at the top of the final room. Dead Messenger also has a catalyst that can be unlocked by completing Vox Obscura on master difficulty.
