I adore housing in MMORPGs but I am often left disappointed in the customization options provided sans those found in EverQuest 2. One of the reasons I was so excited for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn was the game’s housing system, and it really is something to be excited about based on what they’ve revealed so far.
The video above gives a look at the outdoor customization process, initially shown during last week’s Letter from the Producer LIVE. We’ve gotten brief looks at some of the upcoming housing items in past videos from Square Enix, but this is the first time we get a good look at the customization process in action.
If you haven’t seen the housing footage shown at Tokyo Game Show back in September, take a look at the video below to get an idea of the type of indoor customization coming to the game in 2.1.
The big Final Fantasy XIV 2.1 patch will include a big chunk of new content, one bit of which being free company housing. Free companies will be able to purchase shared housing for their members, but individual player houses will not be released until a later patch.
The wealth of customization seen in the two preview videos seen here is most impressive, especially if we see most or all of these options on 2.1 launch day. Naoki Yoshida has stated that new crafting recipes will be added with the patch for crafters to make furniture and other items for their homes. (I hope Culinarians can make food to display.)
Are you and your free company excited for the housing coming in 2.1, or are you more focused on the PvP and new endgame instances? Let us know in the comments below!
