Disney Dreamlight Valley Companion Roles: How to Craft Training Manual

Disney Dreamlight Valley features an assorted cast, and once you reach friendship Level 2 with a character, you can assign them a companion role associated with resource gathering. The roles include Fishing, Mining, Gardening, Digging, and Foraging. But what if you want to change them? That’s where Training Manuals come into play. 

This decision is something you face early in the game, and as you play, your strategy might change, like how we realized we should’ve made more mining companions to accumulate Star Coins and show Scrooge McDuck who’s boss.

Thankfully, with the recent Festival of Friendship update, Gameloft has introduced Training Manuals that allow you to change your companion roles. We’ll explain how to craft and use Training Manuals here.  

Disney Dreamlight Valley Training Manuals Explained

First and foremost, a character must be friendship Level 10 to be eligible for a training manual. You can increase your friendship level through daily favorite gifts, conversations, quests, or simply having them follow you as you go about your Valley duties.

How to Craft a Training Manuals

There are five training manuals you can craft, one for each of the available roles. To craft a training manual, you must gather the associated resources and craft it at a Crafting Bench. Here are the ingredients for each manual and where to find them:

Gardening Training Manual

• 5,000 Dreamlight
  • Find ways to collect Dreamlight in your menu.
• 40 Corn
  • Dazzle Beach Goofy’s Stall.
• 60 Tomato
  • Dazzle Beach Goofy’s Stall.
• 20 Carrots
  • Peaceful Meadow Goofy’s Stall.

Foraging Training Manual

• 5,000 Dreamlight
  • Find ways to collect Dreamlight in your menu.
• 30 Banana
  • Foraged from Dazzle Beach banana trees.
• 20 Blueberry
  • Foraged from blueberry bushes in the Forest of Valor and Dazzle Beach.
• 10 Basil
  • Foraged in Peaceful Meadow.

Fishing Training Manual

• 5,000 Dreamlight
  • Find ways to collect Dreamlight in your menu.
• 2 Swordfish
  • Fishing in Dazzle Beach or Moana’s boat.
• 5 Bream
  • Fishing ponds in Peaceful Meadow or Moana’s boat.
• 10 Herring
  • Fishing in Dazzle Beach or the Glade of Trust.

Digging Training Manual

• 5,000 Dreamlight
  • Find ways to collect Dreamlight in your menu
• 20 Pebbles
  • Found digging in Dazzle Beach, Forest of Valor, Sunlit Plateau, and the Forgotten Lands.
• 20 Sand
  • Found digging in Dazzle Beach or using an upgraded pickaxe on blue-green Sea Debris rocks. 
• 30 Soil
  • Found digging throughout all biomes. 

Mining Training Manual

• 5,000 Dreamlight
  • Find ways to collect Dreamlight in your menu
• 2 Topaz 
  • Mined from nodes in the Plaza.
• 2 Aquamarine
  • Mined from nodes Dazzle Beach and the Forest of Valor.
• 2 Peridot
  • Mined from nodes in Peaceful Meadow and Dazzle Beach.

Once you have crafted your manual, all you need to do is talk to the level 10 companion of your choosing and select the gift option “I have something to give you!”. 

Choose the manual from your inventory, and give it to the character, which will officially change their Companion Role.
