Titans in Destiny don’t get as much recognition as the flashy Warlocks or fast Hunters, but they have plenty of power behind their punches. The Striker, especially, is all about melee combat. If you find yourself constantly in melee combat and enjoy punching people to death, then this is the class for you.
This build is useful in both PvP and PvE scenarios. It is most useful when you can constantly kill enemies in melee range.
Feel free to check out my Quick and Dirty Beginner’s Guide for the basics of the game and links to other guides relating to Destiny.
This guide will cover my Juggernaut build for Striker including:
- Skill Choices – Which skills I chose and why.
- Gear and Stat Choices – Which faction gear I chose, the stats I chose, and why.
Skill Choices – The Way of the Fist
Punch all the things! Seriously, do it. Here are the skills I chose:
Grenade
- Flashbang Grenade – Disorients the enemies it damages.
This is one of my favorite grenades in the game. Not only does it damage enemies, but it blinds them too! Amazing for getting close enough to melee them to death without getting hit.
Jump Ability Upgrade
- Increased Height – Allows you to jump higher when using Lift.
This is completely up to you. I prefer to jump higher, but whatever you’re most comfortable with is what you should go with.
Fist of Havoc Upgrade
- Shockwave – Fist of Havoc unleashes a devastating wave of energy which travels along the ground.
I prefer this oe because it give you a bit more range to the Super ability. I was not good at aiming Death from Above, and I don’t think it would help as much s the other 2 anyway.
Aftermath is great when fighting a boss that stays in the field, or taking out multiple enemies that walk into the field after using Fist of Havoc. It is also good for blocking areas in the Crucible, but I prefer the extra range from Shockwave.
Storm Fist Upgrade
- Discharge – Hits with Storm Fist have a chance to deal area of effect damage around the target.
I love this for a few reasons. It looks really cool, seeing the electricity from your punch damage a group of enemies.
It also helps with AOE. Using Discharge just makes you more of a Juggernaut by taking out more enemies at a time and surviving to do it all again.
Titan Codex
- Titan Codex I – Training focused on Battle Recovery and Toughness.
Titans have great armor and decent battle recovery. You might as well increase it to the max, especially if you want to survive staying in melee range for long periods of time.
Even though this build uses Shoulder Charge and you’ll be sprinting a lot, Titan agility is so low that increasing it won’t help as much.
Ability Upgrade
- Transfusion – Kills with Storm Fist immediately trigger health regeneration.
This is your first step to becoming and unstoppable Juggernaut on the battlefield. When you get up close to kill with Storm Fist, you’ll get health back. This is great since you will likely take a lot of damage doing this constantly.
The best part is this is also triggered from Shoulder Charge. Shoulder charge is the last skill, which I will get to later, but it has no cooldown.
This means you can keep killing people with Shoulder Charge and recover health each time you do so.
Titan Codex
- Titan Codex IV – Training focused on all attributes.
This is the only one that gives you more Armor, plus it gives you a little of the other 2 attributes.
Ability Upgrade
- Shoulder Charge – After sprinting for a short time, press the melee button to unleash a devastating melee attack.
This completes the Juggernaut feel for this build. The chose this over the actual Juggernaut skill for a couple of reasons.
First, you can instantly kill most people with the shoulder charge, it makes you feel like you can melee your way to victory. Hint: You can!
Also, it triggers Transfusion as I pointed out earlier. This means that no only are you charging around the battlefield and killing people like a madman, you’re getting health back every time you do so.
This gives you more survivability and damage than the shield that Juggernaut provides.
Gear and Stat Choices
Stats
I prefer Strength and Discipline for this build. These will reduce the cooldown of Storm Fist and Flashbang grenade.
Your super is great, but this build revolves around killing with melee, so Strength is most important. The Flashbang Grenade will also make it easier to get into melee range without dying, so it is more helpful than Intellect.
Gear
Dead Orbit is the faction to focus on. You can get gear with both Strength and Intellect from other sources, but raising Dead Orbit rep will get you the gear the fastest. All their gear has those stats as well, so it’s a one-stop shop!
