There never seems to be a sunny day in Gotham

In this latest rendition in the Batman Arkham series, you are in the great city of Gotham facing down the fiercest of foes after the death of the beloved Joker. After his death in Arkham City, all hell breaks loose in Gotham when Scarecrow assembles an army to go out and kill the Batman — with the help of the mysterious Arkham Knight, a highly skilled and elite warrior in the militia’s ranks who seems to know everything about the Dark Knight.

With the entirety of Gotham in danger, the Dark Knight calls in his most trusted weapon, the Batmobile. That’s right — you get to ride around and blow stuff up with this tank of a car, which just keeps getting stronger in the game. Right off the bat, you get to see Batman call down the Batwing, which drops off the car. (I find this a bit strange — I mean, if I could use a jet with tons of weapons mounted on it, I probably would).

The game is filled with suspense and a lot of mini heart attack giving scenes, such as…

[SPOILER ALERT]

The Joker shows up and seems to be a bit clingy to Batman. This appearance completely changes everything. And from then on the game is filled with a sense of, What?… How?… When?… Who?… Why?.. Where?.. that keeps the player on the edge of their bean bag chair. (By the way, in the intro scene where Joker is being cremated, let the song finish before you hit the button. Trust me, do it.)

The gameplay is just like the previous games, and it evens incorporates the previous key combos, as well all of the old gadgets. This creates seamless experience for new and old players alike. A lot of these gadgets and tactics truly enhance the gameplay and the challenge.

Along with bringing back the old gadgets, all the old villains are back in town, too. Even the Riddler had time to set up all of his riddles and trophies all over Gotham, along with some unsavory bombs inside of rioters.

In Batman Arkham Knight, all of the Bat family is together and working alongside each other. In Gotham, you get to have assisted take-downs and team-ups with Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl/Oracle and even the Batmobile. This takes ass-kicking to a whole new level without having to buy all of those pesky DLCs (even though they are kinda worth it). Not only do you get to join the Batfamily in missions, you can also change the appearance of Batman and all of the others (Including the Batmobile) through DLCs and awards.

A lot happens in one night in Gotham. If you have the previous games, look out for Calendar Man and other side villains, because they give a bit of insight into the story-line. And most importantly, be the Batman.
