Indie Gold: Pokemon 3D

Aaahhh, the beginning of a dream come true.
This article is over 11 years old and may contain outdated information

My entire gaming life was built on the Pokémon franchise. The games were so fun and time harvesting (which is a good thing). When I found out the indie-dev named Nilllzz was developing a 3D Pokémon game, I flipped. It is appropriately named Pokémon 3D. It is only for Windows users, so far.

Stated by Nilllzz:

“Pokémon3D is a recreation of the old Pokémon games Gold/Silver by Nintendo/GameFreak (but, of course this game has nothing to do with them 😉 You’re the hero of the game, and as usual, you want to be the best Pokémon trainer of all time. So let’s go, visit some grass and catch, battle and defeat wild Pokémon, explore towns and routes in 3D, collect items and Pokémon, play with a friend in LAN co-op and much more. The game is currently under development and features are added frequently.”

So far, the game is still in development, but the builds are playable; you can even play on a network with friends.

Visual

The game remarkably features retro-Pokémon graphics in a 3D world, and it fits very well. This game will have you secreting tears of nostalgia.

Gameplay

The gameplay has not been completely finished, and it shows, but it has a remarkable amount of potential. The walking system takes a while to get used to, because there is no strafing. Although there is a little strain on walking, it does keep to the elements of Pokémon.

ALTOGETHER NOW!!

This game is a lot of nostalgia. It’s amazing to play a “non-sucky” Pokémon game again (Black & White).Unfortunately, you can clearly see this game is a work in progress. I would recommend this game to anyone and it’d be fun playing alongside them too.
