It’s Finally Out For Steam: Savant – Ascent

This is a fast paced, wild, and extremely fun platformer with dubstep and lazers. 'Nuff said.
This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information

The full-fledged dubstep-filled action game made by D-Pad Studios for Android, iOS, PC, Mac, and Linux is now out Steam, and was released on December 4th. It was surprisingly created on the Game Maker engine, famous by games such as Hotline Miami and Spelunky. It has been a long wait for some to have this game greenlit on Steam and can I understand why. This game is great for people who enjoy electronic music and platformers. The game has to deal with the main character, Savant, who thrown out of his tower by a diabolical little orb. The main point of the game is to make to the top of the tower by destroying all your enemies with waves of blast rays.

As the game progresses, you will become more proficient in power by collecting golden CDs. Not only do they give you powers, they unlock a very entertaining soundtrack that pairs hand-in-hand with the game. The game comes with four unlockable tracks (and some bonus ones, but I won’t spoil it) from Savant himself. This means you can enjoy shooting robots, blowing up giant centipedes, and break out in some tiny rage fits each time that you die. When you reach the top you will discover your enemy and battle it out, when you succeed you will claim a new mask for yourself. This also will give you brand new power and a very entertaining new game modes (Again, I won’t spoil it).

Is This Really Worth It?

In all my opinion, this game is really all for entertainment value, more than playing for progression and upgrades. If you wanna try an interesting challenge and quite reasonable fun game with creative music that will keep you pumped to play more. Then maybe this game is definitely worth the cheap cost of $1.99. The simple gaming mechanics make this game very easy to jump right into without having to learn pretty much anything in only a matter of a couple of minutes. Pretty quickly, your skills will advance and you will become a pro at the game in no time. The game doesn’t have a super long story, but you will be glued to your screen the whole time that you play. And as a bonus, once you beat the game you unlock two more exciting game modes so the game doesn’t become stale. For the most part, it will keep you intrigued. If you like the game, it’ll suck up all your free time. In all my defense this is a wonderful game for its cheap price. So what are you waiting for, go get it today!
