Watch Dogs, starring hacker Aiden Pearce, made an unexpected hit during its reveal by Ubisoft at E3 2012. However, although the game was quite popular with 10 million units sold according to Ubisoft’s latest report, the game did not reach the expectations given at the conference.
Mockery quickly spread all over the internet about the less-than-great graphics of the game.
This did not stop the developer from talking about a second Watch Dogs, though. “Reliable” sources from the French gaming site GamerGen told them about Watch Dogs 2, that could be Ubisoft’s star pupil at E3 2015 in June.
New city, new hacker?
The game is being developed in the Toronto based studios, as well as in San Francisco. The rumors say the game should be out in 2016, but the consoles are still unknown. GamerGen seems to believe this could be a 100% Next Gen release. And Watch Dogs 2 will be taking place not in Chicago, but in San Francisco, which could explain why they’re working on the game over there.
The sources did not speak a word about Aiden Pearce, though. Is a new hero to be announced, replacing the un-charismatic hacker we all know? Patience is the key. We’ll find out (or not) at E3 2015.
