Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag Bugs and Glitches

A short compiled list of bugs and glitches in Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag.
This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information

Like most large budget games, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag is riddled with bugs and glitches. These oddities can either make a game much more interesting, or be entirely game breaking and result in you not being able to 100% the game, or just shutting out your last save.

This is a compilation of some of the more interesting cheats I (and other members of the internet) have found in Black Flag. If you’ve found some of your own, feel free to share them in the comment section below.

The Ascension of the Jackdaw

This one goes by many names, the best one I’ve found being “Ascension of the Jackdaw.” I haven’t personally seen this in game, but it appears to happen on Great Inaqua Island more often than not. Other names I’ve seen are “Fun with portals” and “boat glitch.”

This glitch is interesting because it creates a giant hole where the Jackdaw should be. Your crew remain hovering in the air as if held up in one of those indoor skydiving systems, as they and your ship slowly rise into the air.

The glitch doesn’t appear to be more than an anomally and doesn’t appear to be gamebreaking.

Double Adéwalé

I located this glitch at the end of Sequence 03, Memory 01: This Tyro Captain. You move back to the ship to locate Adéwalé and as the cut scene begins, there is suddenly two of your quartermaster.

This glitch is also not game breaking, and just has the cut scene enacted with two Ady’s, complete with static grimace expression on the one manning the wheel when Edward moves in just a bit too close.

Have you seen any glitches or bugs? Feel free to share stories or pictures in the comments below.
