The second chapter of the Galakrond’s Awakening PvE adventure for Hearthstone is out now. Just like the previous chapter, it includes two wings of League of E.V.I.L. and League of Explorers. Each wing consists of three boss fights, and the tips below will tell you how to beat them all.
The overall difficulty level of the second chapter is a bit higher. For example, one of the bosses has two phases, so be prepared for a longer fight than usual.
League of E.V.I.L. Boss 1: Dragoncaster Askaara
This boss fight features one of the most creative hero powers in this adventure. For 2 mana you can summon a Living Candle, a 1/1 minion with a special Deathrattle mechanic that either equips a 1/1 weapon or buffs it if you already have one.
The Wax Lance weapon also has Deathrattle, which summons a number of Living Candle minions equal to its power. This means that the weapon is infinite.
With this in mind, you can use your weapon to deal damage to Askaara, while your minions can deal with her minions. You will be both protected and have enough power to kill her. Just don’t forget to use that hero power every turn.
League of E.V.I.L. Boss 2: United Sr. Explorers
The battle against Explorers can either be easy or hard depending on the RNG. You will deal with Signature Treasure cards that Explorers shuffle aggressively into their deck every turn. You should be familiar with these cards from the Tombs of Terror adventure.
Signature Treasure cards are overpowered and cost very little. This means that you need to finish the game as soon as possible. Fortunately, you have a Galakrond deck of your own, which is one of the top tier decks on the competitive ladder right now.
Your strategy is:
- Invoke your Galakrond
- Use all the Invoke damage to go face
- Use minions for trading
Hopefully, Explorers will draw very few Signature Treasure cards.
League of E.V.I.L. Boss 3: Nithogg
Almost every deck in Galakrond’s Awakening has that one secret win condition that players can use to get a guaranteed victory. Here you can win easily if the RNG serves you well and allows you to draw a legendary weapon from your deck, such as The Fist of Ra-Den.
This weapon doesn’t have a lot of power, but it has an incredibly powerful ability, which allows you to summon legendary minions after casting spells.
Since your deck is full of spells, you will be able to summon the strongest legendary minions as early as Turn 5. Soon your board will be full of them, and even Nithogg’s AoE spells will not be able to do much about them.
You can restart matches quickly if you don’t see The Fist of Ra-Den in your opening hand.
The Rewards
League of Explorers Boss 1: Puppetmaster Lazul
This boss fight has two phases. The first one is pretty simple. All you have to do is beat Madam Lazul with your murlocs and dragons. Your two most valuable cards are Underbelly Angler and Murloc Knight, which will generate a lot more murlocs.
Since Lazul plays a C’Thun deck, try to kill her before Turn 10. When you’re done with her, she will transform into her monstrous alter ego with 50 points of health.
Phase two will start with a full board of C’Thun’s tentacles, so try to preserve at least one copy of Lightning Storm. It will be easier to deal with all of them at once.
After you’ve dealt with the tentacles, you can focus on actually beating the boss. There will be a lot of Taunt minions in your way, which will delay the victory a bit.
League of Explorers Boss 2: High Cultist Dawnshatter
This is probably the easiest battle of Chapter 2 because of your passive hero power, which gives all your dragons +1/+1 whenever one of your friendly dragons dies.
Since your own deck is packed with dragon minions, it’s easy to exploit this hero power. Play as many dragons as you can and don’t be afraid to let them die.
Dawnshatter doesn’t protect herself too well, so go face as often as you can, and this battle will be over in a minute.
League of Explorers Boss 3: Hagatha the Vengeful
Hagatha is an unusually aggressive boss. She will summon a lot of smaller minions in the first stage of the battle, and will more often than not go straight to your face.
This means that you will have to be more defensive. Try and deal with every minion before going face. Otherwise, play Taunt minions and let the enemy minions focus on them first.
After a few AoEs from both sides, you will have a free pass to finish her off.
